As part of the formation of modern recreational activities after the First World War, the cottage phenomenon is also gaining importance, the urban population is increasingly purchasing summer houses, weekend houses or so-called weekends. Bohuslav Fuchs' family also enjoyed cottages, the architect designed and had his first weekend house built in 1930 in Rožná, in a village approximately 60 kilometers north of Brno. Fuchs chose a location for another recreational cottage a little closer to Brno, near the town of Tišnov. The second weekend house was located in a place further away from rural settlements, in a clearing on the road between the villages of Dolní Loučky and Kuřimské Jestřabí.
The recreational object was built in 1935 and fully met the requirements of a socially active family of four, looking for their "escape from the city". The cottage's location in a clearing in close proximity to the forest, its horizontality and the materials used appropriately blended the building into the countryside. The unpretentiousness of the implementation is characterised by the use of natural materials: the partially recessed ground floor containing the garage was built with quarry stone, while wood was used on the first floor. The exterior colour scheme was limited to naturally dark wooden cladding, accented by white windows and red shutters. The distinctive hipped roof extended beyond the ground floor and covered a south-facing veranda. Despite its modest dimensions, the interior provided guests with three bedrooms, a small bathroom and a kitchen with a pantry. The individual rooms were connected to a central living space with a fireplace, illuminated by a three-leaf French window connecting the interior with the veranda. Bohuslav Fuchs called the cottage "New World" and it became an intensive part of family life, where they spent mainly weekends. In addition to wider relatives, friends, mainly from the circles of colleagues and Brno artists, were also invited. From the beginning of the “New World” a chronicle or guest book was kept, to which the family and visitors contributed written or drawn entries describing their experiences at the cottage. The building served the architect’s family for several generations as a welcome refuge providing a place to meet and relax. Its existence was unfortunately ended by an unknown thief who caused the building to burn down.
