A remarkable family house on the outskirts of the village of Korouhev was built in 1925–1926 for the local headmaster Vladimír Šindler (1891–1961), a prominent figure in local cultural life. The modern building, built in a small village, had a very unusual appearance at the time of its construction and can perhaps be understood as part of Šindler's educational work.
The house was built for him and perhaps financed by his relative, the Brno builder Hlaváček, who approached architect Bohuslav Fuchs to design a family house with a studio. At that time, he had been working in Brno for the second year and had completed several projects for family housing. For Vladimír Šindler, he designed a modern country house, with a high hipped roof, taking into account the climatic conditions and local architectural tradition. The morphology of the house shows the influence of the machinist phase of the architect's work, especially in the rounded elements of the protruding cornices; the facades are otherwise puristically clean with a distinctive stone base, which accentuates the glazed veranda facing south. The layout of the house is centered around a large living room, supplemented by smaller rooms and built-in furniture. On the first floor there was a guest room, a library and a painting studio with a partially glazed ceiling. Vladimír Šindler was also an amateur painter and graphic artist, among other things in Korouhva he restored the murals on the local bell tower from the 17th century. However, the most frequent subjects of his artistic works were the local landscape, often made using the woodcut technique. At the end of the 30s he worked in nearby Borová, where a number of his drawings in pencil or pastel, oil paintings and colored woodcuts were created. He returned to Korouhva after the war and lived there until his death. His family house is still very carefully preserved in its original form.
