The “Between Zelena and Pekarska Streets” trail showcases not only modernist residential architecture in Lviv but also significant public buildings such as the Lviv University of Trade and Economics, the Social Insurance Institution, and the Medical Chamber.
Most of the buildings along the trail were designed in the functionalist and Art Deco styles, dating from the late 1920s to the late 1930s. The Medical Chamber building stands out as one of the most representative examples of Art Deco architecture in Lviv. These buildings are notable for their richly decorated façades and interiors, featuring various types of Art Deco sgraffito, alabaster paneling, stained glass, and more.
The residential development on Chubaya Street, designed by Ferdynand Kassler, reflects a holistic approach to modernist urban planning for the entire neighborhood. One of the best-preserved modernist interiors can be found at 27 Levytskoho Street—a building that also holds a tragic story connected to the death of architect Ferdynand Kassler, which is recounted in the accompanying text.
