Masaryk's cottage in Šerlich

The year 2025 marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of Bohuslav Fuchs – architect, urban planner, architectural theorist, publicist, educator and designer, a leading figure of Czechoslovak functionalism – the so-called Brno architectural school – and one of the most important not only Czech, but also European architects of the 20th century. In his work, he applied spatial and layout solutions inspired by new construction and materials. He contributed to the creation of aesthetic forms that became part of the artistic culture of his time, and his work and pedagogical activities influenced several subsequent generations of Czechoslovak architects.

The newly conceived trail uses the functionality of the Architectural Manual database, which allows the user to wander through the realizations of architect Bohuslav Fuchs throughout the then Czechoslovakia. The trail is arranged chronologically, it does not aim to include all of Bohuslav Fuchs' realizations, but selects those that are important, either from the perspective of the architect's list of works or because of his relationship to the given realization or from the perspective of the significance of this building for the local region.
